The Traditional Craft Center (Information Center)

Information CenterShigaraki potteries from Tempo period (A.D. 710-784) to the present exhibit. You can know its history easily. The exhibition of modern age is always held, here you will find a wealth of information about life here and it's culture. We recommend you to get information on Shigaraki here first.

The Shigaraki Pottery Festival

Summer - Shigaraki Fire Festival to thank for fire which is necessary for ceramic.
*Shigaraki Fire Festival - the 4th Saturday, Jul.

Autumn - Pottery Festival to have an exhibition of new collection and sale.
*The Shigaraki Pottery Festival - 3 days holiday in Oct. (included sports Day (national holiday))

Fire Festival
1000 torches are carried through the streets and up a Mt. Atago, and dedicate to the pottery Shrine.

Pottery exhibition and sale is held which is attended by many pottery fans.

Drum Dance

Drum DancePeople dance to pray for rain and bumper crops. These dances are held Higumo-shurine in Maki or Satomiya-shirine in Tarao.

Ceramic Culture ParkThis is a theme park which you can see not only Shigaraki pottery but also worldwide ceramic art. Here it is full with people who visit to take a walk through all the seasons.
